Okta Unveils Advanced Identity Capabilities to Better Secure the Digital Workspace

November 6, 2018 By CybersecurityMarket.com

Okta Identity Cloud to Improve Security for Workspace ONE Customers Adopting Cloud Technologies, While Minimizing Friction for Both End Users and Administrators

Okta, Inc. (NASDAQ:OKTA), the leading independent provider of identity for the enterprise, today announced two new promotional offers that allow VMware Workspace ONE customers to easily take advantage of the Okta Identity Cloud through their local channel partner. These two offers include:

Okta for VMware Workspace ONE Advanced: Workspace ONE Advanced customers who are looking to build on their VMware digital workspace capabilities for use cases such as non-employees and cloud apps can now purchase this promotional offer for Okta’s advanced identity solutions. This includes Universal Directory, Single Sign-On across the Okta Integration Network, and Advanced Multi-factor Authentication across cloud apps.
Okta for VMware Workspace ONE Enterprise: Workspace ONE Enterprise customers can add Okta’s Lifecycle Management and automated provisioning and de-provisioning to HR systems to support increased security and also to automate onboarding and offboarding for IT.
“Every organization of every size depends on technology to succeed, using a wide range of applications and solutions to accomplish their goals. Together, Okta and VMware are making it easy for customers to adopt a Zero Trust framework through frictionless and more secure technology to connect users to the data and tools they need to do their best work,” said Charles Race, President, Worldwide Field Operations, Okta. “The modern workspace is no longer confined to a desk or cubicle; it’s everywhere. People work at home, on the go, at the coffee shop, on the plane, and they can reap the rewards of our partnership with VMware to ensure that experience is more secure.”

In May 2018, Okta and VMware launched a strategic partnership to help enable more organizations to easily and more securely transition to the cloud, leverage existing technology investments and simplify IT management. VMware Workspace ONE, an intelligence-driven digital workspace platform, combines best-in-class unified endpoint management capabilities with the most comprehensive device compliance and conditional access, and enables users to have simple and more secure access to business apps through an easy-to-use experience. The Okta Identity Cloud is a leader in enabling organizations to manage their extended enterprise users and helping them build personalized and more secure customer-facing applications. Bringing together these technologies enables customers to benefit from improved choice and flexibility as they provide employees with a central, more secure hub to access all the apps, services, and devices for digital workspace success.

“Back in May, VMware and Okta set out to enable employees to work anywhere and on any device, on a set of next generation cloud apps. Our partnership has received tremendous interest from customers as they look to embrace a cloud-based, highly automated digital workspace,” said Noah Wasmer, General Manager and Senior Vice President, End User Computing, VMware. “Building on that innovation journey we jointly kicked off, these offers now make it easier for Workspace ONE customers to bring their disparate directory stores into one universal directory, while eliminating the manual task of provisioning and deprovisioning accounts.”

“The needs of the modern workforce mean that public sector organizations have to empower employees to work from anywhere, on any device. As agencies use more apps and devices to get the job done, access to data must only be granted after validating the user, device, application and network information,” said Craig P. Abod, President, Carahsoft, which serves as the master government aggregator for Okta and VMware. “Together, VMware Workspace ONE and the Okta Identity Cloud provide organizations with layers of trusted security, and we’re excited to deliver greater value to our customers and our partner ecosystem by distributing a joint solution that will enhance and secure the user experience for their employees.”

“As the proliferation of apps continues and different companies have unique requirements for their workforces, it’s important for them to be able to rely on best-in-class technologies such as Okta and VMware’s enterprise solutions. Okta for VMware Workspace ONE brings together the best in device and access management, two of the most crucial necessities in the digital workplace,” said Hayley Roberts, Chief Executive Officer, Distology UK. “We’re thrilled to distribute this joint solution to our customers, making their businesses more mobile, flexible and secure.”
