IOTSWC 2024: A Celebration of Disruption, Chips, and Cybersecurity

May 23, 2024 By admin Leave a Comment

The IOT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC), renowned as the premier global event dedicated to transforming industry through groundbreaking technologies, has concluded its eighth edition after an exhilarating three-day run at the Gran Via venue. With a remarkable assembly of 377 exhibiting companies, 98 diverse conferences and sessions, and an impressive roster of over 150 experts, IOTSWC 2024 reaffirmed its status as the foremost platform for the digital evolution across all industrial sectors.

Organized by Fira de Barcelona, this year’s IOTSWC attracted approximately 11,000 attendees. Participants were given an exclusive opportunity to witness firsthand the latest industrial innovations powered by disruptive technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Twins, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), and 5G connectivity. These advancements are equipping businesses with novel tools and strategies to navigate future challenges, emphasizing the event’s role as a beacon of digital transformation.

Prominent companies like AWS, Deutsche Telekom IoT, Digicert, Emnify, Faircom, KNX Association, IoT Squared, ST Microelectronics, Thales, and Txone, among others, were at the forefront, showcasing their cutting-edge solutions. The event featured a stellar lineup of speakers, including Elisa Rönkä, Global Head of Digital Buildings SaaS Sales at Siemens; Lucy Han, Executive Vice President of Building and Home Automation Solutions at ABB; Megan Samford, Director of Product Security at Schneider Electric; Madhu Pai, CTO of Global Partner Manufacturing at Amazon Web Services; Soloman Almadi, Senior Engineering Consultant at Saudi Aramco; and Didem Ün Ates, Operational Advisor in Artificial Intelligence at Goldman Sachs. Their insights and expertise provided valuable perspectives on the digital advancements reshaping the industrial landscape.

Marc Tarragó, Director of IOTSWC, highlighted the event’s significance, stating, “For three days, IOTSWC has been an outstanding showcase for the solutions and technologies that are reshaping the industrial landscape. Visitors have been able to discover that digitization can take their companies and business beyond, while experts and exhibitors have provided an accurate roadmap of how to achieve this.”

A notable feature of this year’s IOTSWC was China’s participation as the Guest Country. An official delegation from China, accompanied by ten leading high-tech companies, traveled to Barcelona to foster business relations and showcase their innovations. The event also drew delegations from Brazil, Denmark, India, Turkey, and Wales, along with hosted buyers from France, Germany, Ghana, and Poland, underscoring its global appeal and influence.

Chips and cybersecurity were pivotal themes at IOTSWC 2024. The essential role of semiconductors in an increasingly digitized society was spotlighted with a dedicated exhibition area. Notable firms such as ST Microelectronics, Lacroix, Tessolve, and Würth Elektronik, along with local companies like Draco Systems, Iqneo, Imasenic, Mobile Knowledge, Monocrom, Openchip, QPlox, Semidynamics, Sensing & Control, SGS Brightsight, TEF, and Trace ID, showcased their latest advancements in this critical sector.

In parallel, the event was held alongside the fifth edition of the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress, organized by Fira de Barcelona and the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya. This congress emphasized the critical importance of cybersecurity in a connected world. Companies such as Anomaly, Cloudflare, Crowdstrike, Forcepoint, Fortinet, ManageEngine, Palo Alto Networks, Sentinel One, SoSafe, Telefonica Tech, and Threatlocker participated, highlighting their solutions and participating in a Hacking Village with workshops and ethical hacking competitions.

Reflecting its commitment to sustainability, IOTSWC 2024 featured a Green Tunnel that delegates passed through to attend conferences. For each delegate passing through, a tree will be planted, resulting in a total of 7,733 trees. This initiative underscores the event’s dedication to environmental responsibility.

The IOT Solutions World Congress and Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress will return from May 13 to 15, 2025, at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, promising another round of cutting-edge innovations and transformative discussions.
