IonQ (NYSE: IONQ), widely regarded as one of the global leaders in quantum computing, will participate in the 2025 UK National Quantum Technologies Showcase, taking place on November 7 at the Business Design Centre in London. Organized by Innovate UK in collaboration with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the UK National Quantum Technologies Programme (UKNQTP), the showcase is among the largest quantum technology events in the United Kingdom, bringing together more than 2,000 participants from government, academia, and industry.
Dr. Chris Ballance, President of Quantum Computing at IonQ and co-founder of Oxford Ionics, highlighted the importance of the event for the company’s ongoing collaboration with the UK quantum ecosystem. “We are delighted to demonstrate our latest advancements in quantum computing innovation at the UK Quantum Showcase this year. The UK has long held a leading position in quantum technologies due to its world-class science and research base,” he said. “The strength of the UK’s technological leadership helped us achieve the highest-performing quantum platform available on the market.”
IonQ’s participation follows a landmark year of growth and investment in the UK. Oxford was recently designated as the company’s EMEA headquarters following its acquisition of Oxford Ionics, the UK-based quantum startup known for its cutting-edge trapped-ion technology. IonQ also completed delivery of Quartet, a quantum computing testbed developed for the UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC). Together, these milestones reinforce IonQ’s commitment to advancing the UK’s national quantum strategy and supporting the transition from research to commercial applications of quantum technologies.
At the London showcase, IonQ will demonstrate its latest hardware and software innovations, engage with policy leaders and researchers, and highlight how its quantum systems can accelerate scientific and industrial discovery across the EMEA region. The company’s presence at the event further cements its role as a key industry partner within the UK’s fast-evolving quantum landscape.
