CrowdStrike Outage Hits the World

July 19, 2024 By admin Leave a Comment

Today, CrowdStrike is facing significant issues following a faulty update that has led to widespread system failures on Windows PCs globally. This problem has caused numerous machines to experience the dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). Various sectors, including airlines, banks, supermarkets, and media channels, are affected, leading to major disruptions in operations across countries like the UK, Australia, Europe, and the US.

The issue stems from an update to the CrowdStrike Falcon sensor, which inadvertently caused critical boot failures on Windows devices. CrowdStrike has since identified and reverted the problematic changes, but many affected systems are still unable to boot normally without intervention.

To resolve the BSOD issue, users are advised to boot their affected Windows machines into safe mode, navigate to the CrowdStrike directory, and delete a specific system file. This workaround has been provided by CrowdStrike’s engineering team and should enable the systems to boot normally again.

Despite the severity of the outage, it’s important to note that Mac and Linux systems are not impacted by this issue, and this is not considered a security incident or cyberattack. CrowdStrike is actively working with affected customers to ensure systems are restored as quickly as possible.

For detailed instructions on resolving the issue and the latest updates, users can refer to various sources such as Beebom and MacRumors, which provide step-by-step guides and further context on the outage.
