CoreWeave, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRWV), known as The Essential Cloud for AI™, has officially announced its move to enter the U.S. federal market with CoreWeave Federal, a new business arm designed to deliver secure, compliant, and high-performance AI cloud services to government agencies and their partners, including the Defense Industrial Base. This marks a significant strategic expansion for a company already powering some of the most advanced AI deployments in the private sector.
At the heart of this move is the accelerating demand from federal agencies for AI solutions that can handle both training and inference workloads at the scale and reliability found in the commercial sector. Michael Intrator, CoreWeave’s co-founder, chairman, and CEO, underscored the national security and competitiveness stakes of this expansion, noting that America’s future depends on advancing secure, high-performance AI infrastructure. CoreWeave intends to adapt its platform to align with rigorous federal cybersecurity standards, including FedRAMP compliance and other authorizations critical to public sector operations.
CoreWeave enters this space from a position of strength, having already built a reputation as a leader in AI cloud performance and innovation. Its acquisition of Weights & Biases (W&B) has given the company an important foothold in the public sector, offering both proven technology and compliance experience. The company has also been proactive in strengthening its government relationships, with Intrator testifying before Congress on AI infrastructure and national security, expanding its Washington, D.C. presence, and bolstering its leadership team with security, legal, government affairs, and communications experts.
From a technology standpoint, CoreWeave is leveraging its deep collaboration with NVIDIA, incorporating the latest AI infrastructure, NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand networking, and NVIDIA BlueField processors for orchestration. Its unmatched MLPerf benchmark results illustrate the platform’s ability to deliver real-world AI performance at scale. In addition to infrastructure, the company has been rolling out solutions such as high-performance object storage and serverless reinforcement learning, while pursuing acquisitions like OpenPipe and its planned purchase of Monolith AI, aimed at broadening its portfolio in mission-critical industries.
The announcement was timed with the NVIDIA GTC GPU Technology Conference in Washington, D.C. (2025), which placed a spotlight on AI, accelerated computing, and high-performance infrastructure. For CoreWeave, participation in this event was not only symbolic but also strategic, showcasing the company’s readiness to play a major role in shaping federal AI innovation.
CoreWeave Federal represents more than just a new line of business—it’s a deliberate step into the intersection of AI, defense, and national competitiveness. With its track record of engineering excellence, its growing influence in Washington, and its ecosystem built in close alignment with NVIDIA, CoreWeave is positioning itself as a trusted partner for government agencies seeking to modernize missions with AI at scale.
