As cyberattacks grow in scale, sophistication, and impact, the sixth edition of the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress (BCC) emerges as a rallying point for organizations that can no longer treat cybersecurity as an afterthought. From 13 to 15 May at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, this flagship event will convene professionals, experts, and decision-makers across the industrial and digital security spectrum with a stark message: cybersecurity must become a core strategic priority, especially in light of rapid digitalization and the sweeping integration of AI technologies.
Set against a backdrop of escalating cyber threats—evidenced by Spain’s 16.6% surge in cybersecurity incidents last year alone—the BCC seeks not only to elevate the conversation but to operationalize it. With nearly 100,000 incidents handled by INCIBE in 2024 and over 183,000 vulnerable systems reported, the urgency is palpable. This year’s Congress, organized in collaboration with the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya (ACC), draws attention to the vulnerable underbelly of the industrial sector, where automation, connected systems, and AI-driven workflows have created unprecedented risk surfaces. The convergence of the BCC with the IOT Solutions World Congress reinforces the gravity of this theme, offering a unified front for AI, industrial innovation, and cybersecurity readiness.
At the heart of this year’s event lies the ‘Hacking Village’—a dynamic ethical hacking hub supported by major players such as Beaware, CaixaBank Tech, Crowdstrike, EC-Council, Cyberwatch, SentinelOne, S21SEC, and Trend Micro. More than a showcase, this arena becomes a live laboratory where hackers will compete in Capture The Flag (CTF) exercises, while simultaneously sharing insights in hands-on sessions. Topics include the evolving risks introduced by large language models (LLMs), the implications of Generative AI on enterprise security, and the shifting responsibilities of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs). These sessions aren’t theoretical—participants are expected to walk away with concrete strategies for hardening their infrastructures and anticipating criminal tactics.
The Congress promises to be more than a trade show or speaking circuit. It aspires to be a crucible for solutions, a think tank in motion, bringing together over 250 companies and 100 global experts. It bridges technical depth and executive relevance, reinforcing the notion that cybersecurity, particularly within industry, is not just an IT issue but an operational imperative. In a world where the digital and physical are ever more entwined, Barcelona offers not just a venue, but a vision of coordinated cyber resilience.
