Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress Spotlights Women’s Impact in STEM and Cybersecurity

March 27, 2025 By admin Leave a Comment

The Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress (BCC), scheduled to take place from May 13 to 15, is set to amplify its commitment to diversity by hosting the STEM Women Congress, a significant initiative aimed at highlighting and promoting the role of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Organized by the Global STEM Women platform, the event, happening on May 14, will serve as a crucial meeting point to discuss the intersection of cybersecurity with critical sectors such as healthcare, finance, and vital infrastructure, uniquely addressing these topics through a gender-informed lens. This gathering aims to not only shed light on the critical roles women hold within the cybersecurity ecosystem but also inspire and empower the next generation of female talent in these traditionally male-dominated fields.

Distinguished speakers confirmed for the STEM Women Congress include prominent industry leaders such as Marta Pascual, CEO of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, a deep-tech company specializing in quantum computing innovations; Maria Viadé, the director of information security and data protection officer for Volkswagen Group Spain; cybersecurity specialist Nadiya Shaik from Nestlé; and Elena Medina, digital leader at Sanofi Iberia. These influential figures are expected to bring insightful perspectives, sharing their experiences and outlining strategies for enhancing gender equity and inclusion within technology-driven industries.

The STEM Women Congress complements the broader framework of the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress and the IoT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC), both major events coordinated by Fira de Barcelona. These congresses collectively anticipate more than 350 global exhibitors and over 100 expert speakers, creating a vibrant international platform for discussing the most pressing issues in cybersecurity and technology today. The BCC itself, co-organized with the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya (ACC), will host an extensive exhibition showcasing leading cybersecurity firms such as Threatlocker, Crowdstrike, EY, Fortinet, FTI, ManageEngine, SentinelOne, Sosafe, and Tenacy. Additionally, its comprehensive conference agenda will delve deeply into emerging threats, strategic cybersecurity investments, and the protection of critical supply chains. A highlight will be the Hacking Village, a dynamic space where skilled ethical hackers will demonstrate their expertise, conducting live demonstrations to educate and engage the audience.

Running concurrently, the IoT Solutions World Congress will explore the transformative potential of disruptive technologies in industrial contexts, structured around three distinct segments: an exhibition featuring innovative enterprises including Lora Alliance, AG Solution, Avanci, Dfactory, Edge Impulse, Emnify, and STMicroelectronics; a dedicated StartUp Pavilion spotlighting groundbreaking entrepreneurial ventures; and a robust conference track designed to foster dialogue and collaboration among global thought leaders in digital transformation. Through these comprehensive programs, the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress and the STEM Women Congress collectively underscore the vital importance of inclusive innovation and robust cybersecurity measures as foundational components for a resilient digital future.
