AWS and Booz Allen Announce Expanded Partnership to Accelerate Digital Transformation for U.S. Federal Agencies

January 26, 2025 By admin Leave a Comment

On January 24, 2025, AWS, an Amazon.com, Inc. company (NASDAQ: AMZN), and Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) revealed an expanded partnership and strategic collaboration agreement aimed at accelerating and improving technology outcomes for the U.S. government. Under this partnership, both companies will jointly create and market solutions to enable federal agencies to drive innovation, expedite decision-making, minimize costs, and extend advanced technologies across intelligence, defense, civil, and commercial missions. As part of this effort, Booz Allen will be able to offer, for the first time, ready-made and reusable enterprise-level digital solutions at scale in vital areas such as cloud migration, cybersecurity, and generative artificial intelligence (AI). These solutions will help enhance national security through AI deployments, strengthen cyber defenses with zero-trust solutions, bring cloud services to remote locations, modernize and migrate IT infrastructures, and push the boundaries of scientific research with high-performance computing. The collaboration merges Booz Allen’s deep technical and domain expertise with AWS’s advanced cloud services and the security, scalability, performance, and sustainability of its global infrastructure. In addition, joint customers can take advantage of the AWS Migration Acceleration Program, which provides a proof-of-concept trial, migration assessments, and AWS credits to support more efficient migration strategies. Dave Levy, vice president of Worldwide Public Sector at AWS, underscored the importance of this alliance by noting that government customers require more agile solutions that bolster operations, amplify efficiencies, enhance security, and reduce costs. According to Levy, the partnership will empower the federal government with increased scalability, flexibility, and resilience to carry out critical missions. Bill Vass, chief technology officer at Booz Allen, emphasized that federal agencies are challenged by fast-evolving threats requiring an approach that is “technically fearless, ruthlessly fast, and obsessed with outcomes.” He explained that this expanded partnership with AWS will enable both companies to invest in and scale solutions that drive transformation across missions, accelerate results through technology, and yield tangible benefits in diverse operational environments.

Both AWS and Booz Allen have a history of successful collaborations in support of vital government missions. One prominent example is their work with U.S. Army Japan, which leverages AWS’s services and Booz Allen’s expertise to deliver end-to-end encryption of warfighter data across the Indo-Pacific theater. With an emphasis on zero trust, edge communications, and tools such as AWS Shield and Cloud Edge Global Access (CEGA), the companies address the specific challenges posed by the first and second island chain in the region, improving deterrence and operational readiness. Michael Deeter, director of Cyber/Dark Horizon, U.S. Army Japan, highlighted the importance of innovating rapidly with rugged, scalable, and secure technology to ensure it can survive the toughest operational environments. The expanded partnership also builds upon Booz Allen’s recognition as AWS’s Federal Government Partner of the Year and aligns with the AWS Generative AI Partner Innovation Alliance, which endeavors to help the U.S. government conceptualize, develop, and implement generative AI solutions for greater innovation and productivity. Booz Allen is a leading provider of AI and cybersecurity solutions to the U.S. federal government, and this collaboration further underscores the collective commitment of both organizations to deliver pioneering technology-driven outcomes for their clients.

AWS has been steadily expanding since its launch in 2006 and now offers over 240 fully featured services spanning compute, storage, databases, networking, analytics, machine learning, AI, IoT, security, and more. Operating from 114 Availability Zones within 36 geographic regions around the globe, with plans for additional regions and Availability Zones on the horizon, AWS supports millions of customers—including leading government agencies. Booz Allen, headquartered in McLean, Virginia, focuses on providing advanced technology capabilities to address national security and defense priorities through AI, cyber, and other state-of-the-art technologies, aiming to empower people to change the world. As of September 30, 2024, Booz Allen employs approximately 35,800 individuals globally and generated $10.7 billion in revenue for the 12 months ending March 31, 2024. By building on each other’s strengths and decades-long track record in government innovation, AWS and Booz Allen will continue to offer effective, scalable, and future-ready solutions that help federal agencies meet the challenges of an ever-evolving landscape.
